  2. Table Conversion Instructions

  5. Each line of a table contains a pair of search and replace strings, separated by a comma. The first item contains the "search" character or string (the HTML reserved character or string you wish changed).

  7. Enter the replacement text as the second item following the comma on each line. If the second item is left blank, the search string will be eliminated from the source text.

  9. For example, to change all instances of "┬⌐" to "©", the corresponding entry in the table would be

  13. Note that this also works with strings:

  15.    http://old.name.edu/,http://new.name.edu/

  17. which could be used to globally change instances of a server name.

  19. Be careful not to alter reserved characters used in HTML (such as < > & or ;), as this will corrupt your existing tags and character entities.

  21. Note that as more and more special symbols are added to the HTML specification, you may add them here as character entities. For example, the proposed entity for the copyright symbol "┬⌐" will most likely be "©".
